Nursery Art

While I have been crocheting away for Miss Rookies upcoming arrival, I decided that her nursery needed a little bit more than just yarn.  So I hit the craft store in search of a cheap and easy art project.

The first thing I did was print out 3 clip art images that I thought would be girly but not over the top.  Honestly, I was also looking for simple shapes since I was going to have to cut them out…the butterfly was pushing it.

Next, I stuck them in the center of 3 white canvases (8 1/2 by 11 I believe).  I used a watered down glue mixture but double-sided tape would have been much easier to remove later.   Then I gave the canvases a few coats of paint.  It took about 4 to get the bold color I was looking for.  Once they were dry I pulled off the clip art and touched up any spots that had bled through with white paint.

Ta da! Three little masterpieces ready  to be hung on the nursery wall…as soon as we get it painted since its still a terrible shade of baby blue and that just won’t cut it.  We’re thinking a warm tan, nice and neutral so we can change out the decorations easily as she grows.
Now, I’m no artist.  Wool work and painting are two completely different things, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.  What do you think?
